To start off, I share the blurb about the book to give you an unbiased idea of what the book is about. I tried writing my own, but I find it hard to write an objective summary of a book I’ve read. So I literally just copy/paste the description that you will find from Amazon or Goodreads. Next, you’ll find a quick breakdown on the book, such as title, publishing company, how long it took me to read, and where you can find the books to add on Goodreads or purchase on Amazon. Here you will also find my rating. (See below for a rating explanation) Next begins the review portion. My reviews are not spoiler-free. If that’s your thing, then check out my Goodreads reviews. Those are brief and spoiler-free. Then come back here to read my full review and let’s discuss the book! I also like to include my favorite quote from the book somewhere in the review. Even a bad book has at least one quote that resonates with me. Despite my lack of photography skills, I’ll even include a picture of the book if it’s a special edition, or if I got any gifts to accompany the book.
What my stars mean:
⭐ – I DNF’d the book most likely, or it was just THAT bad!
⭐⭐ – I finished it, but didn’t particularly enjoy it, I probably even said “Well that’s x hours of my life I won’t be getting back”, wouldn’t recommend
⭐⭐⭐ – It was a decent book, at least somewhat entertaining, I’d probably only recommend it to someone who loves that genre or trope
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – I REALLY liked this book!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – I LOVED this book and will probably recommend it to every single book lover I know
Spice level meanings:
🌶 – think Disney romance, G-rated, there is romance, but only some holding hands or light kissing
🌶🌶 – PG-13 rated, there’s romance and sex, but no detailed descriptions, still wholesome (closed-door)
🌶🌶🌶 – R-rated, descriptions and details of sex scenes are included, 18+ recommended (open-door)
🌶🌶🌶🌶 – this isn’t “making love”, it’s hardcore bowchicabowwow, if you’re reading in public, you’ll probably be blushing and squirming in your seat
🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 – this is going to be reserved for the more deviant and naughty readers, the sex in this book is not vanilla, and if you don’t know what that means, then you should probably stick to the 4 🌶 and below, read at your own risk!!!
Horror level rating
Horror ratings are largely subjective. What one person finds scary as hell, another person might find pretty tame. Here’s how I rate them:
☠ – This book was mostly gory and/or fucked up, but not really scary
☠☠ – There were a few little things here and there that I found kind of creepy, but nothing to give me nightmares
☠☠☠ – This definitely had me on edge, had me creeped/grossed out
☠☠☠☠ – This definitely had me scared and I’ll probably be sleeping with the lights on tonight lol
☠☠☠☠☠ – I am frozen in place, and I’m too scared to move b/c I know that “IT” is waiting for me under my bed, behind my shower curtain, inside that closet…you name it!!!
