About

Hi everyone!! My name is Amanda, and I’m a 40-something-year-old nurse. I live in the great state of Texas with my two adorable fur-babies and their live-in nanny, aka “mom”. lol I’ve been a lover of books for as long as I can remember. My parents lovingly share stories of how, instead of begging for toys at the store when we went shopping, like a normal child, I would beg for a book. Growing up, my love of books never faded, and I loved nothing more than spending my entire summers curled up with a Sweet Valley High book, or a Babysitters Club book, or the newest R.L. Stine release. I think Danielle Steele was even one of my favorites by the time I was around 8 years old. I can probably blame all my romance problems as an adult on her, don’t you think? haha

So you’re probably wondering what kind of books I read, or why you should even read my blog. Great questions! However, they’re not easy ones to answer. I read all genres of books. Looking back over what books I’ve read over the last year, I’d say a majority of them are thriller/mystery, romance, fantasy, or historical fiction. I also have a subscription to Once Upon a Book Club, and their genres vary from month to month, which I love! I also like to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone, so I participate in a few reading challenges and reading bingos. I will pick something random that matches a challenge that I normally wouldn’t have thought about reading. It’s a great way to discover new authors and expand your repertoire. You should try it if you haven’t already!

Besides my wide range of book choices, I write pretty much how I would talk to you if we were just two friends, sitting down and having a conversation. I’m honest, blunt, a little sassy, and sometimes even a little funny. All of the books that I review, I have either purchased on my own, borrowed from the library, been gifted to me from a friend, won from a giveaway, or snagged a copy of from Bookbub or Stuff Your Kindle Day. So basically what I’m getting at…is that I am not paid for nor asked for my review. What I say about the book is my honest, no-holds-barred opinion about it. It can’t get more honest than that, can it?!

You may also occasionally find some randomness that I post in here from time to time. I love my job, which is being a Pediatric ICU nurse. But I don’t love the medical field and the U.S. Healthcare system. So I may throw in a rant here and there, or a funny/cute story that I want to share. I also LOVE my two pups, and anything dog-related. So don’t be surprised if you see a picture of them popping in now and then. So by all means, come for the book reviews, but feel free to stay for the nursing rants and adorable dog pics! I won’t judge!

My blog won’t be for everyone, and that’s ok! I cuss like a sailor sometimes, and some of the things I read might not be your cup of tea. Being a nurse, I also sometimes have a dark sense of humor. I’m a firm believer that everyone is their own person, with their own likes and dislikes. The things that I choose to talk about in this blog are not meant to offend anyone or single anyone out. If you find something I say offensive, then let’s all be adults here and just scroll along. If it’s something you really need to get off your chest, then please reach out in a private message. 🙂
